thoughts on turtle necks

Winter is truly a season for getting dressed.

Having had the chance to visit New York last month, this is when I truly began to understand what this means. When it is cold out, one's ability to layer is really able to shine (pun intended). Getting dressed becomes more about how many things can one comfortably wear while still looking chic as shit. However at home in California, this can be difficult when its upwards of 60 degrees and sunny in March.

I've recently gotten back into the turtleneck trend. Time will tell if this love is temporal, or if turtlenecks are going to become a wardrobe staple for me. I'm no preppy 80s WASP, but I do know that if J.Crew keeps putting cute ones on sale with an additional 50% off, I will definitely not be saying no.

This outfit is really a play on layering my turtleneck. I added my new half-sleeved slouchy sweater from Jigsaw because its casual and adds an interesting dimension, without being too hot. To stay with the slouchy look, I put on a pair of super-distressed boyfriend jeans from Pierre Balmain (a $40 steal at Jeremy's with the $498 tag still attached). It seems fairly simple, but I'm honestly just doing what I can without becoming a schvitzing baby stuck in couture jeans.
