urban cowgirl
Ah, the neck scarf. It seems like they've been popping up everywhere, and by everywhere I mostly mean on my gf Allergic to Vanilla. Admittedly neck scarves were sort of “my thing” in second grade, after my first trip to Paris/before I discovered androgyny and norm-core in third grade. I was hesitant to get back into this trend because I wasn’t trying to be 1997 about it, although I’m not sure that’s entirely a bad thing. However, sometimes it just takes a trusty friend to bring you back to something so good.
Back in October, I blogged about dressing up as an Urban Farm Girl for Halloween. I like to think that this look is an evolution from that persona, into a whole other being. Low and behold "Urban Cowgirl". Similar to Urban Farm Girl, she loosely relates a trend to an entire character--i.e. overalls=farm, neck scarves and wide hats=cowgirl, duh. Temps have been surprisingly warm, so Urban Cowgirl knew it was time to romp around on the pasture. By this I mean shop at Freda Salvador on Fillmore, and grab lunch at La Mediteranee. I’m not much of a cowgirl, but at least my outfit plays the part.
