trending: menswear fall2020 & pre-fall 2020
Fashion month kicked off with Pre-Fall 2020 and Fall 2020 Menswear. Since these are ready-to-wear shows, it is always exciting to see what our favorite designers are putting out. Admittedly, this is also when we start to figure out the major trends that what we want to add to our closets.
We’ve been noticing that clothing is consistently maximal. Whether we’re looking at menswear or womenswear shows, it’s evident that the people have spoken, and they want more!
Each designer had their own take on this trend. Some approached it through blending exaggerated silhouettes with neutral monochromatic palettes. Others took a more literal approach- an explosion of vibrant colors, patterns, and textures. No matter the approach though, clothing is intrinsically maximal. Arm length men’s gloves? Thanks, Dior.
This dichotomy speaks directly to where we are at this current moment in time. Our politics and the world around us is heavy. People are seeking refuge in their creativity. Clothing is a form of pushing boundaries.
At a moment where we should be “doing the most” for each other and the world around us, fashion enables us to express this through an outward image of oneself. We are feeling inspired by the subversiveness on the runway and feel a sense of hope seeing what is being created.
