There’s something to be said about “slow fashion”. It is important to curate your wardrobe as your own, and find pieces that will timelessly fit into your life. You probably end up splurging on these pieces--whatever a “splurge” means to you. The point really is to look into your closet in 1, 5, 10 years down the line and think to yourself “I still love wearing these.”
That being said, it is equally important to know when to not splurge. Finding those trend pieces to pair with your timeless staples will help you style the clothes you do splurge on in a way that is fresh and seasonal. A denim jacket in a new “in” cut might not stand the test of time, and neither will our current obsession with fringe, but who cares? Our generation is known to have galvanized the “treat yo’self” mentality. The fact that something isn’t timeless doesn’t necessarily mean we can’t get in on the trend, but we do have to be smart with how we do it. Luckily we have a variety of “fast fashion” at our disposal, but let’s not forget that (like anything) it is a balancing act.
