To be chic or not to be cheap? That is the question. I believe that good taste doesn't have to cost a fortune. It's all in the styling. So, to answer that question, be both! Jackie and I had an awesome day off together in the city, strolling along Fillmore street, which is a great place to shop or simply browse. We definitely did the latter, with the exception of our fro-yo purchases!
Spring styling is all about color choices and proper layers. The sun is shinning but it's still chilly out, so layers are still a necessity (and also sunglasses, which I forgot, oops!) A classic cable knit sweater is never a bad thing to own in one's closet. It embodies that timeless chic, but can be paired with literally any type of style. This cable knit is from Madewell and I absolutely love it, especially since it was on 30% markdown! I layered my chambray and chunky sweater to incorporate some current trends into my outfit.
I love feminine hints of details, hence my blush pink accessories. My mini bag from J.Crew has been one of my favorite spring pieces. It has a great boxy shape and beautiful gold details. Some items are worth spending the money; this bag being an example of that!
In my opinion, being chic is all about feeling comfortable in your clothes, while still possessing a sense of personality. As much as I love Channel tweeds, I know I can't afford that luxury (or at least yet!). not being able to spend a fortune on clothing though, shouldn't limit your sense of style. Being creative with textural layers and color combinations can make all the difference with an outfit.
